E

Electricity distribution network:
The electricity distribution network is made up of power lines, switchyards, transformers and other electrical elements having a voltage under 220 kW, which do not belong to the transport network. In addition, all communication, protection and control assets, auxiliary services, lands, buildings and other auxiliary elements, whether electrical or not, needed for the appropriate functioning of the specific distribution network installations defined above are considered to be part of the distribution network.
Electricity tax:
Amount in Euros of a tax applied to electricity bills. Chapter IX of Law 66/1997, of 30 December, on fiscal and administrative measures and social order, provides for the electricity tax. The tax base for this tax is the total amount multiplied by a coefficient of 1.05113. This amount was determined as the tax base for valued added tax on taxable events, excluding the electricity tax, for electricity supplies provided for payment within the territory where valued added tax is applicable between unconnected persons. The tax will be chargeable at 4.864 %.
Electricity transport network:
The electricity transport network is made up of power lines, switchyards, transformers and other electrical elements having a voltage equal to or greater than 220 kV and any other installations, whatever their voltage, that provide transport for the international interconnection and, as appropriate, interconnections with Spanish off-mainland and island electricity systems. In addition, all communication, protection and control assets, auxiliary services, lands, buildings and other auxiliary elements, whether electrical or not, needed for the appropriate functioning of the specific transport network installations defined above are considered to be part of the transport network.
Environmental Impact Statement:
The declaration by the relevant environmental authority that decides whether or not the projected activity may be carried out, and, if so, the conditions that must be established to protect the environment.
Estimated reading:
Estimated customer consumption reading, obtained by an estimate process, which is billed when a true reading or recently provided reading is not available. Also used in readings every four months.

F

Fixed fee:
Amount in Euros of the fixed amount billed to customers monthly for network connection and the right to consume energy.
Fixed-Rate Consumption:
Consumption in kWh billed for the various fixed rates for electricity.

G

Gas Centre:
Centre open for customer service and gas-related services provided by the company: gas supply, sale of appliances and services, systematic inspections, etc.

H

High pressure:
Pressure greater than 4 bar (effective or relative).

K

Kilowatt hour:
Unit of energy equivalent to the energy expended by the power of one kilowatt (kW) during one hour, equivalent to 3.6 megajoules. Equivalent to 0.0949 cubic metres of gas.

L

Last Resort Supplier:
Marketing company appointed by the government that attends to consumer requests for natural gas supply, at a maximum price that will be regarded as the Last Resort Tariff. The tariff is established by the Ministry for Industry, Tourism and Commerce, with prior agreement from the Delegated Government Committee for economic affairs.
Last Resort Tariff:
It is the maximum price, fixed by the Government, that marketing companies may charge as a last resort.
Liberalised market:
The market in which the customer contracts supply with any other marketing company duly authorised by the relevant Authority. Prices are agreed to by the purchaser and vendor.
Liquefaction plant:
Facility where natural gas is changed from a gaseous state to a liquid state.
Liquified natural gas (LNG):
Natural gas that has been liquified by freezing at approximately -161°C at atmospheric pressure. Natural gas has 600 times more volume than liquified natural gas (LNG).
Low pressure:
Pressure less than or equal to 0.05 bar (effective or relative).

M

Mains connection:
The part of the pipeline between the distribution network and the connection valve, inclusive. It does not form part of the reception facility.
Market capitalisation:
Value of the company obtained by applying market prices to the shares making up its equity.
Marketing Companies:
Are those purchasing natural gas (from producers or other marketing companies) and selling it to qualified customers or other marketing companies under freely agreed terms. The marketing companies pay to use the transport and distribution system for the transport and supply of gas to their clients.
Meter:
Device which enables one to read the volume of energy consumed during a specific period of time at a given baseline pressure and temperature.
Midstream (processing and transport):
Conditioning of hydrocarbon production to the quality specifications demanded by end markets, as well as transport from the processing plants to those markets. Also see upstream (exploration and production) and downstream (distribution and marketing).

N

Natural gas for vehicles:
Natural gas used as a fuel for vehicles.
Net profit after tax:
Final company profit calculated as the operating profit less the financial result less corporation tax.
