Domestic Applications of Natural Gas

Gas Natural Fenosa carries out gas and electricity marketing activities both in Spain and on the international market, and also sells other products and services on the retail market in Spain.

In 2012, Gas Natural Fenosa sold 179,217 GWh on the liberalised gas market in Spain, thanks to the company's extensive customer portfolio.
In order to guarantee its exports of gas from Spain to Portugal, Gas Natural Fenosa uses the input points on the Campomaior (south east) and Valença do Minho (north) gas pipelines.

Gas Natural Europe, the company’s European sales affiliate, currently has 2,566 customers in various sectors in France, which is equivalent to a portfolio of 14.1 TWh/pa. It has 465 supply points in Belgium and Luxembourg, which represent a contracted portfolio of 4.9 TWh.

In the short term, the company is looking into entering other central European markets, with services based on customised energy advice and the benefits of having a diverse and secure energy supply. In addition, from its head office in Paris, it coordinates the reactivation of wholesale gas activities in Italy where the company has a contract portfolio of 2,645 GWh per year, and it also supplies power to residential customers through the retail activities of the Gas Natural Vendita subsidiary.

In Portugal, Gas Natural Fenosa is the number one independent natural gas operator on the market, where the company is also actively participating in the process headed by the ERGEG group to develop infrastructures that will allow for a considerable increase in connections between Spain and France.

Gas Natural Fenosa is also consolidating its presence in the international market through operations in new markets. In this regard, in the field of gas trading, Gas Natural Fenosa is the first Spanish company to become part of the Belgian gas hub in Zeebrugge.

In Spain, Gas Natural Fenosa continues to promote the development of alternative sources of energy for vehicles, both in the public and private sectors. It is also working on the development of the business model for the electric car, in collaboration with a number of Administrations and with the backing of the various state plans for this alternative form of transport.

The company maintains an agreement with TMB, which contains several measures to reduce the emissions of buses in the Barcelona metropolitan area. The plan is to replace conventional buses with new units that run on compressed natural gas (CNG), the most environmentally friendly alternative fuel due to its low level of emissions, which are below those of the Euro 6 standard. It will come into force in 2015.

With regard to energy efficiency in the residential, tertiary and industrial markets, Gas Natural Fenosa continues to work on developing added value energy solutions and services, and actively participates in the promotion of energy efficiency and saving, in accordance with the energy policies for promoting efficiency and savings.

The company has more than 1.88 million gas installation and appliance maintenance contracts with domestic customers and it also has its own operating platform with more than 164 associated companies, connected through an online mobility system. This has enabled it to increase the features and quality of this service, making it the one most valued by our customers.

Gas Natural Fenosa continues to incorporate functionalities and users in its virtual office, which carried out 3.8 million transactions. The number of customers with online bills is now more than 415,000.
