Gas Natural Fenosa has been operating in Moldova since the year 2000 through its subsidiary Red Unión Fenosa, which is dedicated to electricity distribution in the centre and south of the country, including the capital Chisinau.

As at 31 December 2011, the company had a total of 819,506 supply points in this country, which means it now serves more than 70% of the country as a whole.
The ebitda of Gas Natural Fenosa's electricity business in Moldova stood at 30 million euros for 2011, 11.1% up on the previous year. The projects geared towards improving operational processes are resulting in significant improvements in the efficiency of the business in this country.
At a time of economic slowdown, energy demand in Moldova increased by 3.3% in 2011, and the customer base increased by 0.5% in relation to the previous year.
