Gas Natural Fenosa has been operating in Italy since 2002 through Gas Natural Vendita, a company that sells natural gas on the liberalised market, and Gas Natural Distribuzione Italia S.p.A, which manages the gas distribution companies in the regulated market.

Gas Natural Fenosa has been present in Italy since 2002 and currently operates in different energy sectors through separate companies: Gas Natural Italia S.p.A., a services company; Gas Natural Vendita Italia S.p.A., a company that markets natural gas and electricity in different market segments; Gas Natural Distribuzione Italia S.p.A, which manages natural gas distribution in the regulated market and Gas Natural Rigassificazione Italia S.p.A., created for developing a regasification plant in Trieste. The aggregate of the Gas Natural Fenosa Italian companies achieved an EBITDA in 2011 of 70 million euros with growth of 5.4% on net deferred income.

Gas Natural Vendita Italia S.p.A.

Its creation in September 2002 was the group's first business initiative in Europe, which made it the first Spanish company with its own sales subsidiary for operating in the Italian market. The company presently markets gas, electricity and services to more than 400,000 customers belonging to different market segments: residential SMEs; wholesale; industries and vehicle. This progressive growth has enabled the company to achieve, at the end of 2011, the placement in the Italian market of 506 million cubic metres of gas for a total of 5,548 GWh, of which 2,718 GWh was to residential and commercial customers and 2.829 GWh to wholesale operators.

Gas Natural Distribuzione Italia S.p.A.

Since 2004, this company has developed an expansion strategy especially focused on the centre - south of the country, achieving a presence to date in eight regions (Puglia, Sicilia, Calabria, Basilicata, Lazio, Abruzzo, Campania and Molise) where it provides service to more than 200 municipalities through a capillary network of pipelines. In the framework of reinforcing the group's presence in the Italian natural gas distribution regulated sector, the acquisition in December 2011 of Favellato Reti Gas, a company with distribution concessions in 28 municipalities in southern Italy, enabled the company to achieve, at the end of the same year, 440,297 supply points and a distribution network of 6,736 kilometres.

Gas Natural Rigassificazione Italia S.p.A.

The group has plans to build a regasification plant in Trieste, which will ensure the Italian gas system has a greater flexibility and secure supply, given that the plant, which has two 140,000 m3 tanks, will offer an annual regasification capacity of 8 bcm. The project is currently in the final administrative processing phase.
