Gas Natural Fenosa operates on the Colombian market through Gas Natural S.A. ESP and Electricaribe S.A. ESP. In Colombia, the company serves more than four million customers, distributing and marketing natural gas in the interior of the country, and electric energy on the Atlantic coast.
Since 1997, the group has been managing Gas Natural ESP, a leading gas company in Colombia, which distributes natural gas in Bogota and Soacha. Through Gas Natural ESP, the company also manages Gasoriente ESP, Gases de Barrancabermeja ESP and Gas Natural Cundiboyacense ESP.
The group's companies in Colombia distribute natural gas on the residential, commercial and industrial markets, and also put their efforts into developing the use of natural gas as a fuel for vehicles.
As of 31 December 2011, the group had 2,291,000 customers and a distribution network measuring some 19,000 kilometres.
Gas Natural Fenosa has a 59.1% stake in Gas Natural ESP, and took over the management of the company following its privatisation.
Electricity distribution
The multinational energy company also distributes electricity on the Atlantic coast of this Latin American country through its subsidiary Electricaribe S.A. ESP. As of 31 December 2011, the company had 2,224,000 electricity distribution customers, achieving sales of 10,524 GWh during this period.
